NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS SELF-TITLED DEBUT STREAMING NOW VIA NPR MUSIC FIRST LISTEN

OUT AUGUST 21 VIA STAX/CONCORD RECORDS

BAND PERFORMS “S.O.B.” ON “THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON”

TOUR DATES CONFIRMED THROUGHOUT FALL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – AUGUST 13TH, 2015 - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ debut self-titled album, set for release August 21 on Stax/Concord Records, is streaming now at NPR Music as a First Listen. NPR Music praises Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, saying “Rateliff isn't simply resurrecting the ghost of R&B past like some garden-variety neo-soul necromancer: He’s out to shake the sheets, sermonize and get downright elemental.”

Most recently, the band made their late night television debut performing lead single “S.O.B.” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, watch it here. Of the performance Fallon gushed, “It’s going to be everyone’s favorite new band, everyone’s favorite new song. It’s the song of the summer.” Fallon was so moved by the band’s combustible performance that he further shared in a tweet, “If you believe in soul... if you believe in rock n roll... if you believe in performing your guts out... Enjoy the band on our show tonight,” and Questlove also lauded, “a hellofadebut tonight on #FallonTonight @NRateliff wow!!!!”

“S.O.B.” is currently #1 on the Spotify U.S. Viral Chart (#5 Globally) and was featured in last month’s installment of NPR Music’s Heavy Rotation: http://n.pr/1Iqr5DD. In addition, the track recently reached #1 on Apple Music’s Rock A-List as well as # 5 on Sirius XM’s “The Spectrum.” The official video can be streamed/shared here: https://youtu.be/1iAYhQsQhSY.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats is receiving early critical acclaim both stateside and abroad:

“A new project doesn’t necessarily encourage a full-on reckoning that wreaks havoc on your body and soul, but that’s what Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats
conjure up night-in and night-out.”—Village Voice

“The songs are fantastic, too, and Rateliff has found himself an absolute showstopper of a finale…His new single, ‘S.O.B.’, is a spirited three-and-a-half minutes on record. The kind of song you want to play three or four times in a row…”—The Guardian

“‘S.O.B.’… should be heard on a jukebox: it’s got that great soul/gospel/R&B sound that made Stax so important 50 years ago. The fun, gospel-style opening is quickly subverted by an infectious, hard-charging song…”—WNYC

“Rateliff has released a few folk albums on his own, but the group’s new self-titled solo record goes beyond that, giving Rateliff’s formerly spare sound a ferocity and intensity that should surprise some fans.”—The A.V. Club

“Heralded by triumphant peals of brass, ‘Look It Here’ repositions one of the past five years’ most underrated vocalists and songwriters as a kind of biker Otis Redding, all joyful R&B declarations and rough-hewn charm.”—NME

“Drums and bass stomp deep and hard right from the first notes…Horns accompany organs that ring out with quintessential Stax vibes, even as some sturdy guitar work links back to Rateliff’s folksier recordings. As is so often the case in a live setting, it’s Rateliff’s own vocals that seal the deal…”—Consequence of Sound

Produced by Richard Swift (The Shins, Foxygen, touring musician for The Black Keys) Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats retains the intensely personal and revealing lyrics Rateliff is known for, with The Night Sweats bringing power, joy and soul to the sound.

The band is currently on tour through the fall. Due to high demand, shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C. and Austin have been moved to larger venues. See below for full routing.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats is Rateliff (vocals, guitar), Joseph Pope III (bass), Patrick Meese (drums), Luke Mossman (guitar), Mark Shusterman (keys), Wesley Watkins (trumpet) and Andy Wild (saxophone).
